What to Expect at Ridge High School During Freshman Year
Project Adventure is a required physical education course for freshmen at Ridge that occurs during marking period one. The goal of the program is to expose students to situations outside of their comfort zone while learning to work together as a group in a positive manner. The six pillars of Project Adventure are: Be Here; Be Honest; Be Safe; Set Goals; Take Care of Self and Others; and Let Go and Move On.
School pictures/ID photos are taken in September. All students are given an ID card to place in their grade appropriate colored lanyard which must be worn at all times during the school day.
Homecoming Tailgate is open to all students and held before the Friday night football game of Homecoming Week.
PSAT Testing is offered at Ridge in mid-October (optional).
American History Community Service Requirement is 15 hours of service to an approved nonprofit organization and essay letter reflecting on the experience. It is due Spring of Sophomore year but Freshmen can begin working on this beginning in May of ninth grade.
Ridge Gives Back is a day of school wide community service in June. All students sign up to participate in different service opportunities during the day.
Summer Assignments – begin checking the Ridge website homepage in late May for summer reading, math, and AP assignments.
